Dear Healer, Your Vacation Is for You Too

July 19th, TheraSistersStL

If you’re a healer, helper, or human who holds space for others… vacation might not feel like the deep exhale it's supposed to be.

Instead of sipping your iced drink poolside in peace, you might find yourself managing everyone else’s moods, schedules, sunscreen reapplication, and snack rotations. And before you know it, you’re back home needing… another vacation.

Sound familiar?

You’re not alone — and we want to gently remind you of something important:

Vacation is also for you.

Even if you're the “fun planner,” the “calm-down captain,” or the one who remembers to pack 3 types of Band-Aids, you deserve rest, joy, and moments that are just for you.

Here are a few glimmery ways to protect your peace while still showing up for your people:

☀️1. Plan One Thing That’s Just for You

Schedule it in like it's non-negotiable — whether it’s a slow morning coffee on the porch, a bookstore visit, or 30 uninterrupted minutes of journaling in the sun. Your joy matters too.

🧭 2. Practice the “One Check-In, One Let-Go” Rule

It’s okay to check in on how others are doing — but balance it by also checking in with yourself. Ask:

“What do I need right now?”
Then honor it. Even if it’s ten minutes of alone time or saying no to one more group activity.

🌴 3. Let Go of the Itinerary MVP Pressure

You don’t have to make the vacation magical for everyone else. Give yourself permission to not orchestrate every meal, moment, and mood. Sometimes magic happens in the unscheduled.

🎧 4. Protect Your Sensory Space

Too much noise? Too many people? Too much sunscreen sand in your soul? It's okay to take a beat. Bring your headphones. Find your quiet pocket. Take a solo walk. Say, “I'm gonna sneak away for a bit.”

5. Anchor Into One Glimmer a Day

Look for your moment — just one — where you feel delight, calm, connection, or peace. Hold onto it. Write it down. Let it be yours. Vacation isn't about doing everything; it's about feeling something that fills you back up.

💛 A Final Word from the Circle:

Dear healer —
You are allowed to rest.
You are allowed to receive.
You are allowed to say, “This moment is for me.”

And if no one else has told you lately: you're doing a beautiful job of being human.
