The Biscuit:
Our Unofficial, Totally Fabulous Mascot
Ah, the biscuit. It holds a special place in our hearts here at Networking Noms. Legend has it that the biscuit came into being at one of our very first events @RoosterSTL on South Grand, St. Louis, MO.
Picture it: a perfectly golden biscuit, mysteriously appearing on our table with no one daring to claim it. What to do with this lone, unclaimed treasure? Enter our delightful friend, Barry McClintock, with the kind of genius only found in the most whimsical of minds. He declared, “Let it be the mascot of Noms!” And just like that, the biscuit became a symbol of our group: warm, inviting, and ready to spread joy!
Now, at every Networking Noms event, the biscuit takes on the all-important role of talking stick. Yep, you heard that right. It’s not just a biscuit—it’s a powerful tool. Whoever holds the biscuit gets the spotlight for a few moments to share about their practice, their passion, their ideal clients, or whatever they feel inspired to share. It's like a mini TED talk, but with more buttery goodness. (Don't worry, the biscuit doesn’t mind if you talk for a while... It’s all about fostering connections, not crumbs.)
As you can imagine, we love our biscuit dearly—though sometimes we might forget it at home amongst all the excitement of our events (ADHD brains, am I right?) But as long as we remember to bring it, the biscuit will continue to inspire great conversations, new friendships, and, of course, a little bit of extra joy at every Networking Noms gathering.
