What leads a girl with a Bachelors degree in theatre to build a platform that will revolutionize mental health care matchmaking and potentially unseat the current, entirely unhelpful industry leader?!

A dream and a need.

I spent most of my 20s saying, “I should probably start therapy.”but didn’t actually begin until I was 34, almost a year after my first child was born – My marriage was more complicated than I thought possible, I noticed generational patterns I did not want to continue, I was working my tush off, but miserable in my job – Help was no longer a “should.” It was a need.

Four years into my therapy journey, I was reading everything I could get my hands on about mental health, trauma, and attachment – and never missing a chance to talk about therapy and mental health whenever possible. All the while, I was also learning just how convoluted the process of finding a therapist feels – and how many incredible providers are struggling to keep sustainable caseloads.

You mean to tell me that everyone and their mother is talking about a mental health crisis, and that there are people seeking care AND people willing and capable of providing care, and they just can’t find their people?!?!

Excuse me, WHAT?! Something needed to change.

So how did I decide I’m the one to do it?

My career has always surrounded ensuring talented people have what they need to succeed and then getting out of their way – Project Manager, Coordinator, Producer, Account Executive, etc.. I especially shine when curveballs hit. (Thanks, trauma!) I stay calm, focus on solutions, and plan for the future – shielding the talent from the drama, so they can focus on their craft.

I’d worked across industries – home entertainment, food photography, private label packaging – and though the work paid the bills and amassed me a huge breadth of knowledge, it didn’t feed my soul. I tried side projects: voiceover, a YouTube channel, fiber arts, wood burning, baking, DIY home projects… but balancing a 50+ hour job, marriage, parenting, and personal projects was exhausting. Talk about burning the candle at both ends. I was burning it at all of the ends. All of them!

Well, your girl got her hands on some entrepreneurial and business books, and once entrepreneurship and mental health matchmaking came together in my brain, that was it!

In her book Untamed, Glennon Doyle shares the mantra: “be still and know.” And I knew. Dangit, I KNEW! At just a couple months shy of 40 years old, I finally knew what I wanted to do professionally with this “one wild and precious life.”

TherapList isn’t just a platform

- it’s the change I want to see in the world, and it’s exactly the kind of work I was waiting for my whole life.

Enter: TherapList

Think: Psychology Today meets Hinge

I like to say any good solution solves two problems – and TherapList does exactly that.

For the mental health space:

  1. Helps providers connect with the clients they actually want to work with.

  2. Helps care-seekers find the right provider without endless scrolling or guesswork.

But TherapList also solves two problems for me:

  1. Provides a fulfilling career aligned with my values.

  2. Lets me be a part of the change I want to see in the world.

TherapList is here because finding your therapist (or clients) shouldn't be the hard part.
