Choose Your Living Well Adventure: Your Next Chapter Starts with One Choice
Every life is a story.
Every season is a chapter.
Every chapter offers choices.
And every choice has the power to create change.
If life were a “choose your own adventure” book I’m pretty sure most of us wouldn’t have picked every chapter we’ve lived. There are chapters filled with joy, growth and celebration. There are also chapters we never expected. Chapters filled with anxiety, grief, uncertainty, burnout, change and moments when we quietly wondered “How did I get here?” or “When do I get to feel like me again?” If you’ve ever felt that way, I want you to know you’re not alone. I understand because I’ve lived my own chapters too. Looking back I can see that every decade of my life invited me into a new up level of growth, healing and becoming.
In my 20s, I learned that asking for help wasn’t a sign of weakness; it was one of the bravest choices I could make. In my 30s, I discovered there is always another layer of healing. Growth isn’t something we finish; it’s something we continue to choose as life invites us into new experiences and perspectives. My 40s brought grief and grief changed everything. It deepened my understanding of healing, resilience, relationships and what it truly means to be present with ourselves and others. I learned that healing isn’t about rushing through difficult chapters; it’s about allowing those chapters to transform us. Now in my 50s, I have the incredible privilege of living the work I teach every day. I’ve learned that Living Well isn’t about having a perfect life or avoiding hard seasons. It’s about making intentional choices that bring us back to ourselves again and again. Those chapters didn’t just shape me personally; they inspired the work I am honored to share with others.
Long before I became a therapist and holistic health practitioner I was a dancer and cheerleader. Looking back I realize that encouraging others, celebrating milestones and helping people believe in themselves has always been part of who I am. Today that same energy shows up in every therapy session, sound bath, retreat, workshop and conversation. Because I don’t just celebrate the big breakthroughs. I celebrate the brave conversation. The boundary you finally set. The moment you choose yourself. The tears you allow yourself to feel. The small steps forward that may seem insignificant to others but are actually proof of your growth. Healing doesn’t have to be heavy all the time. Sometimes it looks like tears. Sometimes it looks like laughter. Often, it looks like both are happening at the same moment.
For 17 years I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside individuals navigating anxiety, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, unresolved childhood trauma and seasons where they feel disconnected from themselves. What I’ve learned both personally and professionally is that healing happens differently for everyone. Some people need a conversation. Some people need an experience. Some people need to understand their story. Others need to reconnect with their body. That understanding became The Living Well Framework™, an integrative approach that blends evidence-based psychotherapy, neuroscience, nervous system regulation and whole-person wellness. At its heart The Living Well Framework™ is not about adding one more thing to your already full life. It’s about helping you come home to yourself. You don’t have to fit into my framework. My framework was created to meet you wherever you are. Your Living Well adventure can begin in many ways.
Some individuals begin with cognitive talk therapy. Creating space for themselves to understand their thoughts, emotions, patterns and experiences while gaining tools to navigate their current chapter. Others begin through community sound baths or collaborative wellness experiences featuring breathwork, meditation and yoga allowing themselves the opportunity to slow down, breathe, reconnect and simply be. Some are drawn to somatic healing sessions, where somatic movement, tuning fork protocols, sonic massage, crystal and Himalayan singing bowls, gongs and energy work are incorporated to support nervous system regulation and help the body release what it has been carrying. Others begin their adventure through corporate wellness presentations, workshops or retreats discovering practical ways to create more balance, connection and well-being in their personal and professional lives. Different chapters. Different starting points. One Living Well Framework™. One purpose. Helping individuals move from surviving to Living Well by changing the stories their mind, body and nervous system have been carrying for years.
When I’m not at The Living Well Center of St. Louis, you’ll usually find me near the water, walking in nature, getting lost in an easy beach read, laughing through a Netflix comedy special with my husband and our two pups, or catching up with my daughter and her latest adventures. Those simple moments remind me that Living Well isn’t found in perfection or productivity. It’s found in creating space for joy, connection, laughter, rest and the people who matter most. So wherever you are in your story I want to ask you:
What chapter are you ready to begin?
What choice is waiting for you?
Where will your Living Well adventure start?
You don’t have to have the whole book figured out before you turn the page. You simply have to choose your next step. And if that choice happens to be reaching out; I’d be honored to walk beside you with curiosity, compassion, practical tools and yes…a whole lot of cheering you on. Because every chapter offers new possibilities. Every choice has the power to create change. And the art of Living Well has been within you all along.
